The Point System

CERT will continue to employ the attendance policy this year, based on a point system.  Active CERT members must attain a minimum point value by the end of the semester. For example, a member might miss a few general meetings but then make-up the points by attending enough outreach events to bring the total number of points.

In order to assist you, please use the worksheet link below to keep track of your points. You will also be able to keep track of your points on BlackBoard.

Attendance Record

Point Values:

General meetings = 10 points
Outreach meeting = 5 point
The Disaster Readiness Exercise (DRE) = 100 points
Outreach events will vary in points depending on the nature and length of the event

Any member who misses the exercise for any reason will be marked inactive until his/her attendance at the next DRE. This is due to the University’s liability policy and therefore no exceptions can be made.)

The points will be assessed at the end of every semester, indicating each student’s activity status for the following semester. Any student who is declared inactive for 2 consecutive semesters (or 3 non-consecutive semesters) is subject to discipline at the discretion of the E-board. Outcomes could include having the student either have his/her membership terminated or be required to redo Basic Training (unless that student has requested temporary inactive status such as his/her studying abroad).
